    Article summary

Blacklists prevent specific contacts from receiving any messages through Mapp Engage — across all channels.

You can add email addresses, domains, or phone numbers to a blacklist to block unwanted communication and ensure compliance with data privacy and opt-out regulations.

Unlike automatic deactivation, blacklisting is a manual action that immediately removes the contact from your system (system blacklist) or from a specific group (group blacklist).

    Why use blacklists?

    • Ensure contacts no longer receive messages across email, SMS, push, or in-app

    • Prevent contacts from resubscribing or being re-imported

    • Stay compliant with privacy rules and user opt-outs

    • Clean your database of invalid or unwanted addresses

    Warning

A system blacklist permanently deletes all contact profile data.

A group blacklist only removes group-specific data.

In both cases, the contact cannot be re-imported or re-subscribed using the same address.
