Introduction
Inbox Monitoring provides visibility into how your email messages are delivered across different mailbox providers.
Using seedlist-based testing, Mapp Engage evaluates whether a message:
Reaches the inbox
Is filtered into the spam folder
Does not appear in the mailbox
This allows you to assess deliverability performance across domains and providers.
How Inbox Monitoring Works
Inbox Monitoring uses automatically generated seedlist addresses that represent major mailbox providers, platforms, and regions.
During a monitored sendout:
The same message is sent to seedlist addresses at the same time as regular recipients.
The seedlist responses are analyzed separately from recipient statistics.
Results provide an estimated picture of inbox placement across providers.
Seedlist addresses are not included in normal sendout KPIs such as delivery rate, open rate, or click rate.
Inbox Monitoring is activated at group level and applies to all eligible sendouts for that group.
What Is Measured
Inbox Monitoring provides estimated placement rates per provider.
Inbox Rate
Estimated percentage of monitored messages that reach the inbox.
Junk Rate
Estimated percentage of monitored messages that are delivered to the spam folder.
Missing Rate
Estimated percentage of monitored messages that do not appear in the mailbox.
These values are based on seedlist behavior and represent an approximation of inbox placement.
Important Considerations
Inbox Monitoring provides estimates, not exact delivery guarantees.
Results are provider-specific and may vary across domains.
The Missing Rate can appear higher immediately after sendout due to delivery delays. It may decrease over time as messages are processed.
Inbox Monitoring does not replace bounce analysis or delivery metrics in standard message statistics.
This feature must be enabled for your system.
When to Use Inbox Monitoring
Inbox Monitoring is typically used to:
Validate inbox placement before or during large campaigns
Identify provider-specific deliverability issues
Compare placement performance across domains or regions
Reduce deliverability risks before full-scale distribution
By separating inbox placement analysis from engagement metrics, Inbox Monitoring helps you better understand how mailbox providers handle your messages.
