Overview
The Log Tracker Overview provides a high-level summary of events recorded in the system within a selected time frame. It helps users quickly compare recent system activity with historical averages to identify irregular behavior.

Overview Chart
The overview displays a chart with one column per event class that occurred at least once during the selected time frame.
For each event class, the chart shows:
Recent: The actual number of events that occurred in the selected time frame.
Average: The average number of events that occurred over comparable time periods in the recent past.
The average is calculated by comparing the selected time frame with up to 30 days of historical log data.
Average Calculation Logic
If the selected time frame is three days, the system compares it with previous three-day periods (up to 30 days) and calculates the average from those periods.
If the selected time frame is greater than six days, no average is shown because there are not enough historical periods for a reliable comparison.
If the selected time frame is less than one day, only recent values are displayed because calculating averages would require excessive system resources.
Comparing recent values with historical averages makes it easier to spot unusual spikes or drops in activity.
Interactions
The chart supports the following interactions:
Hover over a column to view the recent and average event counts for the selected event class.
Click a column to open the Chart View for that specific event class.
Actions
Action | Description |
|---|---|
Rewind | Displays the previous time interval based on the currently selected range. For example, if the range spans one hour, the previous hour is shown. |
Forward | Displays the next time interval based on the currently selected range. |
Filter | Updates the chart based on the selected From and To values. |
Clear | Removes the selected time range and clears the chart. |
Time Range Configuration
Setting | Description |
|---|---|
From | Defines the start date and time for displayed events. This value cannot be more than 30 days in the past. |
To | Defines the end date and time for displayed events. This value cannot be more than 30 days in the past. |
By default, the chart shows events from the last 24 hours.
Additional Information
Event classes may appear with both recent and average values set to zero if the calculated average is below 0.5 and rounded down.
Log data is retained for 30 days, which limits the available historical comparison range.
The overview includes options to print the chart or export it as an image.
