Mapp Engage Variables - Barcode

The Mapp Engage Variables in the ​Barcode category insert a barcode into your message.

Barcodes generated from a coupon list or custom attribute are added to a message with a Mapp Engage Variable. A barcode is generated for each coupon and inserted individually into the message during sendout. Barcodes stored in the content store are not available as Mapp Engage Variables. If your barcodes are stored as a content store element, see ​Use a Content Store Element in an Email​.

Navigation Path​

1. Create a message or landing page.

2. Click ​Mapp Engage Variables​.

3. From the ​Category​ drop-down list, select ​Barcode​.

Barcode Variables​

The ​Barcodes category in the Mapp Engage Variables menu lists all the barcodes in your Mapp Engage system by name and ID number.

A barcode is a machine-readable code that can be inserted into a message. You can convert data into barcodes in Mapp Engage with the Barcode Generator. The Barcode Generator automatically creates barcodes from a coupon list, custom attribute, or data that is manually entered on the user interface.

Barcodes generated from a coupon list or custom attribute are added to a message with a Mapp Engage Variable. A barcode is generated for each coupon and inserted individually into the message during sendout.

If there are no barcodes available in the Mapp Engage Variables menu, one of the following is true:

• There are currently no barcodes in your Mapp Engage system.

• You lack permission to see the coupon lists. To view barcodes, you need one of the following system permissions:

  • 170 ​Barcodes: View and Edit Own Barcodes​
    (With this permission, you can only view and insert your barcodes.)

  • 171 ​Barcodes: View All Barcodes​

  • 172 ​Barcodes: View and Edit All Barcodes​

• Your barcodes are stored in the content store. Barcodes stored in the content store are not available as Mapp Engage Variables. If your barcodes are stored as a content store element, see ​Use a Content Store Element in an Email​.

Format​

The variable is a placeholder that appears within tags, like this: <% ... % >.

During sendout, the placeholder is replaced with the barcode.

For example, the placeholder <img src="<%barcode.104%>"> inserts the barcode with the ID number 104.

You do not need to adapt the placeholder before sendout.
