Understanding Online Interaction Tracking
Mapp Engage provides several built-in tracking events that automatically capture product interactions on a website or app if Product Tracking with Mapp Intelligence is enabled. These include:
Abandoned Browse – The user views a product but does not add it to the cart or complete a purchase.
Abandoned Cart – The user adds a product to the cart but does not complete the purchase.
Wishlist Campaigns – The user saves a product to their wishlist.
These predefined events require no additional configuration and are automatically available as triggers in Mapp Engage. For more details, refer to the documentation.
To work with other types of user interactions, you can use Custom Tracking Events. These allow marketers to define and track specific online behaviors and use them as triggers for personalized campaigns in Mapp Engage.
Use Cases for Tracking Online Interactions
With Custom Tracking Events, you can capture and act on key user behaviors beyond product interactions. Examples include:
A user interacts with a size guide or fit recommendation tool.
A user searches for a store using the Store Finder.
These behaviors can be used as triggers to send personalized follow-ups, promotional emails, or engagement campaigns.
Implementation Overview
To track online interactions in Mapp Engage, data collection via the Mapp Intelligence Tracking Pixel is required. Once an event is captured, it can be used as a trigger for automated campaigns.
There are two ways to implement Custom Tracking Events in Mapp Engage:
With Marketing Automation – Events are processed through Audience Streams before being sent to Engage.
Without Marketing Automation – Events are sent directly from the Intelligence Tracking Pixel to Engage.
For detailed implementation steps, refer to the documentation.
