Target contacts based on anonymization preferences

Overview

This example shows how to target contacts based on their anonymization preferences. It applies to segmentation in Mapp Engage and is typically used to ensure that message sendouts respect data privacy settings.

Contacts who requested anonymization are excluded from segments that rely on personal interaction data.

Example setup

A marketer wants to send messages only to contacts who have not requested anonymization of their data.

The setup uses the system attribute DoNotTrack to identify contacts who allow their interaction data to be used for segmentation. Contacts with DoNotTrack = false can be targeted, while contacts with DoNotTrack = true are excluded.

The following screenshot shows a segment that selects contacts based on their anonymization preference.

Steps

  1. Create a segment using Contact Profile > Profile Attribute.

  2. Select the DoNotTrack attribute.

  3. Set the value to false to include only contacts who have not requested anonymization.

  4. Use the segment for message sendouts that rely on interaction or behavior data.

Notes

  • The DoNotTrack attribute is an optional feature and is not enabled by default. To activate the functionality, contact your Mapp Customer Success Manager or Account Manager.

  • Once enabled, the attribute can be managed for contacts according to your anonymization and privacy configuration.

  • Contacts with DoNotTrack = true are automatically excluded from any segment that relies on interaction or behavior data. This system behavior cannot be overridden.
