Overview
A configuration template stores a predefined set of sendout settings that can be applied automatically when creating or copying a group.
Configuration templates are designed to standardize sendout behavior, reduce manual setup, and ensure consistent delivery settings across groups and campaigns. They are particularly useful when groups are created frequently or via automated processes such as Control XML.
Configuration templates include sendout-related settings only. They do not contain general group properties such as group name, group email address, recipient selection, or other structural group settings, which must be defined separately.
Key Characteristics and Advantages
Reusable sendout settings: A template stores multiple delivery-related settings that can be applied together, simplifying message preparation.
Automatic application: Templates are applied automatically when creating or copying a group, eliminating the need for manual configuration.
Control XML support: A configuration template ID can be referenced in Control XML. When included, the template overwrites the group’s sendout settings automatically during execution.
Consistent delivery behavior: Ensures uniform sendout settings across groups and campaigns.
Improved efficiency: Streamlines the sendout process across Mapp Engage and external integrations.
Configuration and Behavior
A configuration template defines which sendout-related settings are applied to a group.
The following settings can be saved in a configuration template:
Domain
Sendout Speed
Email Headers
Reply Handling
Link Tracking
Notifications
When a configuration template ID is included during group creation or copying via Control XML, the template settings overwrite the existing group settings automatically when the Control XML runs. This enables consistent delivery settings to be applied without requiring additional manual steps.
