The Filter Engine in Mapp Intelligence is a central component that lets you define precise conditions to refine your analyses. It is used in various parts of the platform — including custom filters in analyses, segment creation, and when filtering metrics or custom figures. Regardless of the use case, the filtering logic and available options always follow the same principles.
This training module focuses on the Filter Engine itself — its structure, how conditions are built, and how you can combine them using containers and scopes. It provides a technical foundation for understanding how filters work, independent of where they are applied.
Most examples in this module are based on filters used in standard analyses, as this is one of the most common use cases and allows a clear explanation of key mechanics. However, the logic also applies to other areas where the Filter Engine is used.
You’ll learn:
How to choose filter criteria based on available dimensions and metrics
How to define conditions using different operators and input types
How to combine filters using containers and assign scopes
How negation works at filter and container level
For context-specific applications of the Filter Engine (e.g. in the Segmentation Builder or Custom Figures), please refer to the corresponding training chapters.
