Internal search tracking captures the search terms visitors enter in your website's own search function.
It allows, for example, the following analyses:
Which searches do users perform on my website?
What is the conversion rate of specific search phrases?
Which search phrases didn't deliver any results?
The search term is captured as a single value per search — either submitted via a URL parameter or directly in the tracking call, depending on how your internal search is implemented.
Other relevant information, such as the number of search results, requires an additional parameter — a page or event parameter, depending on how your search is implemented.
Good to know
Search phrases are automatically transformed into lowercase letters.
