Subscription management covers how contacts choose to join and leave your audience — opt-in (sign-up, including double opt-in) and opt-out (unsubscribe). These are recipient-driven choices, set up so that people knowingly consent to your messages and can withdraw that consent at any time.

Opt-out – how contacts unsubscribe from your messages.
Subscription management is about the contact's own choice. Contacts that the system suppresses automatically for deliverability reasons (for example, bounces or spam complaints) are covered separately under Contact Deactivation and Blacklists.
