Purpose
This window provides an overview of all the groups in your Mapp Engage system.
A group is a list of contacts to whom you send messages. In Mapp Engage, groups are the primary way that you organize contacts and send messages. Many settings, including sendout settings, are managed on the group level.
What can I do in this window?
Create groups for contact management and message sendout.
Change the owner of a group.
View basic information about the group such as the number of members or sent messages.
Access group management functions, including group settings, group attributes, and more.
Access the overview pages for your Web Groups and Configuration Templates.
Actions
Your ability to access some actions depends on the permissions that are assigned to your system role.

Create | Opens a window where you can add a group. In Mapp Engage, you organize your contacts and send messages in the context of a group. |
or Change Settings | Opens a window where you can change the name and settings of the group. Many settings, including sendout settings, are managed on the group level. |
View Statistics | Opens a window where you can view contact statistics for the group. Contact statistics on the group level provide many insights:

Log in as Owner | Opens a Login window that shows the current owner of the group. You can log in as the owner with your own user name and password. When you are logged in as the owner, you have all the permissions of the owner of the group. This feature facilitates troubleshooting. |
Copy Group | Creates a copy of the group. The new group has the same group settings as the original group. Mapp Engage prompts you to create a unique name and email address for the new group. |
Group Attributes | Opens a window where you can create, import, and edit group attributes. A group attribute is a property field that stores data for a group. The same value is stored for all members of the group. The data is group-specific and cannot be used for sendout in another group. |
Delete | Deletes the selected group after a confirmation question. You cannot restore a deleted group. |
Landing Pages | Opens the Landing Pages window, where you can view and edit the landing pages for this group. |
Twitter Card | Opens the Values for Twitter Card window. This window displays the values you need to integrate with a Twitter Lead Generation Card. |
Members | Shows the members of the group. |
Change Owner | This opens a window where you can change the group owner. The group owner has the most permissions in the group. For example, the group owner can send messages and change the group settings. |
Information
Item | Description |
---|---|
ID | Shows the group ID of the selected group. Mapp Engage assigns a unique ID to the group when you create it. You can use the group ID to find the group in the system. |
Name | Shows the name of the group. You define the name when you create the group. You can change the name of the group at any time. The group name is not necessarily the sender name that contacts see in their email inbox. The sender name is managed in the group settings on the Reply Handling tab. |
Email | Displays the email address of the group. You define the email address when you create the group. You cannot change the group email address. The group email address is not necessarily the from address that contacts see in their email inbox. You can see the from address in the Details area of the page. The email address of the group is used when you answer messages or for deliverability processes. |
Locked | Shows whether the group is locked. A lock is temporary. Mapp Engage removes the lock when the process is finished. You cannot manually unlock a group. Mapp Engage temporarily locks a group to prevent you from running multiple competing processes at the same time. For example, you cannot run a simultaneous import and sendout in the same Mapp Engage group. There are two types of locks. A group can have an exclusive lock or a shared lock.
The group lock does not apply to single actions. When a group is locked, contacts can still subscribe to the group. You can add individual contacts to the group in the user interface or with the API. |
Category | Shows the category of the group. Group categories are assigned to groups to make it easier to organize different types of groups. Only one category can be assigned to a group at any time. Group categories can be assigned, changed, or removed at any time in the group settings. |
Owner | Shows the name of the group owner. The group owner has the most permissions in the group. For example, the group owner can send messages and change the group settings. |
Messages | Shows the number of messages that are sent with this group. This number includes all messages since the group was created. |
Members | Shows the total number of members in the group. This number includes members with any group membership status. |
Deactivated | Shows the number of deactivated members of the group. |
Change Display Options
Setting | Description |

Show | Controls whether the table displays active or archived entries. |
Filter | Filters the entries according to the values in the filter fields. It is possible to combine multiple filter criteria. |
Remove Filter | Removes all filters and displays all available entries. |
Sorts the order in which the entries display. | |
Visible Rows | Changes the number of rows that are displayed per page. |
Navigates to the next or previous page of results. The arrows appear when not all entries can be displayed on one page. | |
Select All | Selects all visible entries. |
Archive | Archives any selected entries. Archived entries cannot be used, but remain stored in the system. |
Delete | Deletes any selected entries, after an additional confirmation question. |
