Media tracking measures how visitors interact with audio and video content on your website.

It allows, for example, the following analyses:

  • Which films are viewed?

  • How far are films viewed?

  • How do films add to the success of my website?


Media

The dimension "Media" is the base for all media-related analyses.

Details

The following information can be tracked:

  • Access of media, playback period, and playing time.

  • Events like play, pause, stop.

  • Bandwidth, volume, and more.

Media Tracking supports common web and app-based media players.

Media categories

Media can be categorized. This allows a generalized examination.

A medium can be allocated to a value in a media category.

Good to know

  • Categories are read out automatically only on the first access of a media item. Later changes are not applied automatically.

  • Media without an assigned media category appear as -.

Analysis

Available in Navigation > Media Categories (for the data type Text).

YouTube plugin

Embedded YouTube videos can be tracked automatically using the YouTube Plugin, without manual configuration of play, pause, seek, or position events.
