System Messages

Prev Next

System Messages are notifications sent by the Mapp Engage system to users or recipients. They provide important updates about system events or actions.

Types of System Messages

Mapp Engage offers three types of system messages:

  1. Group (General) System Messages

    • Provide information about any group in Mapp Engage.

    • Used for all groups that do not have a specific group message configured.

  2. Group (Specific) System Messages

    • Provide information about a single specific group in Mapp Engage.

    • When a specific group system message exists, it overrides the general group message for that group.

  3. System-Wide System Messages

    • Provide information relevant to the entire Mapp Engage system.

Delivery Channels

System messages can be sent via email or SMS. By default, messages are sent as emails, even if SMS functionality is enabled for your system. To send a system message via SMS, activation is required for each individual message. For more details, refer to System Messages via SMS.

Default System Messages

  • Mapp Engage provides pre-configured default system messages in text email format.

  • These default messages can be edited to suit your requirements and reverted to the original default at any time.

  • The default messages are available in English and German. The English version is used as the fallback when a recipient's preferred language is unavailable.

  • Additional languages can be added to the default system messages. For details, refer to System Message Languages.

Enhancements to Default Messages

  • You can add an HTML version or create an SMS version of the default text email message.

  • For guidance on editing defaults, see Edit Default System Messages.

Customized System Messages

System messages can be customized in two ways:

  1. Edit the Default Messages

    • Modify the existing default messages for each language individually.

    • Automatic translation is not available; each language version must be edited manually.

    • Reverting to the original default message is always possible.

  2. Use a Template

    • Create a system message using a prepared message as a template.

    • A separate message must be created for each required language.

    • Templates allow personalization with user attribute data. For guidance, see Create Templates for System Messages.

Tracking System Messages

Default system messages cannot be tracked (e.g., opens or clicks).
To enable tracking, create system messages using a template. For instructions, see:
